alFresco filmFesto outdoor summer film series, fits the bill for good times.
It’s outdoors. It’s summer. It’s movies. And it’s fun!
For the past 12 years, on Friday nights from mid-July to the end of August, the Atlantic Film Festival has delivered an unforgettable outdoor film experience on the Halifax Waterfront – a larger-than-life inflatable screen showing classic movies in open air. With as many as 1000+ movie-goers coming together for each screening – all toting their lawn chairs, blankets, picnics and favourite company – this open-air cinema has a unique festival atmosphere that must be experienced first-hand.
Our team is constantly dreaming up an alFresco theme for the next series. In recent years, our Summer of … theme has been very popular. But while the theme changes from one year to the next, the objective remains:
• to bring the community together.
• to enjoy the film viewing experience in unique settings.
• to set the stage for the upcoming Atlantic Film Festival.

The 12th annual ViewFinders: Atlantic Film Festival of Youth has come to a close. It was an extraordinary week for youth film. We definitely saw some world class short films from some exceptionally talented Atlantic Canadian young people. To all those who submitted films this year as well as those who support their dreams, thank you for participating.
