In-Flight Safety

Formed in Sackville, NB, now based in Halifax, NS, is one of Canada’s brightest new acts. With their first album under their belt, and a second on the way, this young four-piece is spicing up the Maritime music scene with a combination of their uniquely orchestrated rock and stellar songwriting. On their first album Vacation Land they carefully balance an unusually fine line between intimate songwriting and expansive, atmospheric art-rock.

Jonathan M

Jonathan M’s musical talents embrace a wide range of roles, including singer, songwriter, performer and producer. With two successful commercial releases and a new CD coming in the second quarter of 2005, Flying Disc Records has also produced compilation CDs for film and television and has been well received by music supervisors and producers.

Jeff Johnston

While known as one of Canada's finest jazz performers, Jeff Johnston's film scores cover a vast array of musical styles. His music incorporates ambient textures, orchestral elements, percussive and electronic loops, and influences from many cultures. Johnston, a two-time Juno and ECMA nominee, has composed numerous scores for the National Film Board of Canada and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Mary Jane Lamond is a sharer of songs, stories and spirit. This sharing has garnered Mary Jane numerous Juno and East Coast Music Award nominations, critical acclaim and a worldwide audience. Mary Jane is just completing work on her fifth recording, Storas, which is a beautiful interpretation of some of the Scottish Gaelic songs that have become part of Nova Scotia's Gaelic tradition.

MIR has had a very busy 2005. Starting early in the year with a sold out (8500+) Halifax Metro Centre show in support of The Concert for Asia, helping to raise nearly a quarter milllion dollars. They have been in the studio recording their new acoustic project, The Acoustic Recording, the farthest thing from a typical unplugged recording, and preparing for their next full blown studio project.

The leader of the Museum Pieces, Tyler Messick, minored in Film Theory and Composition for Film at the Dalhousie University, King’s College. He has since completed film composition master classes at ECMA and Atlantic Film Festival events in 2003 and 2004. The other members of the band (Andy March on drums and keyboards, Pamela Mcinnins on bass, and vocals and Tyler Messick on guitars, keyboards and vocals), both graduates of Nova Scotia School of Art and Design, have also taken film composition courses in conjunction with their Fine Arts degrees.

The Novaks

Hailing from St. John's, Newfoundland, The Novaks are “the” new face of Rock and Roll. Blending together the sounds of old school heroes such as The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and The Cars, they have created an authentic, immediate new school sound. Fronted by Mick Davis and Chuck Tucker and rounded out by Mark Neary on bass and Elliot Dicks on drums, the band has caused nothing less than a sensation since their birth only two short years ago.
