Transportation Team

Drivers

As a driver you are one of the first and last to interact with the Festival Delegates so the impression you make is paramount. In AFF rented vans you will drive delegates, special guests and staff throughout the city, to and from the airport and to festival venues and hotels. You will be able to deal with the stress of changing priorities and urgent requests for service, and because you know the city well, you can navigate around its traffic and congestion. You have an excellent driving record and will take initiative to assist delegates with their transportation needs to ensure their AFF experience is extremely positive. Whether you’re an early riser or night owl, there are shifts for you – driving begins as early as 6AM and can go until after 2AM. You must be courteous to both the passengers and the traffic – the Atlantic Film Festival’s reputation rests with you on the streets of our city!

Dispatchers

Working from one of our Transport Kiosks located in the lobby of the Lord Nelson, you will receive transportation requests from Delegates and staff, organize scheduled pick-ups and dispatch drivers by phone and in person. You are friendly, enjoy working with the public and are very knowledgeable about the city and the Festival venues in order to respond to questions from Festival attendees.

Airport Hospitality Manager (Volunteer Leader)

You will provide the official welcoming of AFF visitors to Halifax, coordinate with our Transport Captains regarding pick-ups assuring all guests have transportation, and answer questions at the airport welcome kiosk. The Airport Hospitality Manager (Volunteer Leader) plays an important role in providing AFF staff additional support by assisting in the supervision of other volunteers at the airport. Transportation from the Lord Nelson to the airport is available.
